A collection of related releases that are managed together. Release groups help organize releases across products or time periods.
What is a Release Group?
A Release Group lets you create multiple sets of releases in the same Productboard workspace. If you have multiple teams working out of the same workspace, each using a different release system, you can manage each as a separate release group. You can also use release groups for different types of releases — sprints, versions, patches — or to separate internal planning timelines from externally shared roadmaps.
Release groups are available on Scale and Enterprise plans.
When to use it
- Multi-team workspaces — When different teams use different release cadences (e.g., one team ships weekly sprints while another plans quarterly releases).
- Separating internal vs. external timelines — Track when features are getting worked on in one group, and when they are planned to be released in another.
- Multi-product coordination — Group releases from different products that need to ship together.
- Portfolio-level reporting — Query release groups to get a roll-up view of delivery across multiple releases.
