A high-level goal your organization wants to achieve. Objectives are part of the OKR framework and are supported by measurable key results.
What is an Objective?
An Objective is a high-level, qualitative goal that your organization or product team wants to achieve. It answers the question: "Where do we want to go?"
Objectives are part of the OKR (Objectives and Key Results) framework in Productboard. Each objective is supported by one or more key results that define how success is measured.
When to use it
- OKR synchronization — Sync objectives between Productboard and your OKR tool (e.g., Lattice, Ally.io, Gtmhub) to keep strategy aligned.
- Strategy-to-execution mapping — Link objectives to initiatives and features to show how daily work ladders up to strategic goals.
- Leadership reporting — Query objectives with their health and progress to build executive-level dashboards.
- Planning cycles — Create objectives programmatically at the start of each planning cycle (quarterly, annually).
